The funding crux has finally reached the circadian field. There was so much focus on the role of clock genes and beautiful transgenic lines on disease states at the meeting, which made me happy, but probably was a slight disappointment to those doing basic SCN physiology. Basically, there is at least one cardiac, metabolic, neuromuscular, hepatic, and/or immune pleiotropic effect of clock gene perturbation at a transcription and/or translational level. Of course, not all mouse lines can address tissue-specific or direct vs. developmental differences, which will put those labs ahead in the race for money.

The “silliest” er should I say most salient poster that I saw used chocolate to entrain behavioral rhythms……in mice!
